I look forward to Friday evenings in the summer as we have our outdoor concerts in the park. Good food, good wine, good music and good friends...the perfect combination. I can't wait til next Friday!
Hi Willy, The Friday night concerts look like fun. We used to take the kids to Sunday evening concerts on the Green in Falls Church, VA. The kids loved it. My daughter said she wished we had something like that down here. Enjoy your weekend. Carol
hi willy, when my children were younger and my husband was alive, we used to go to outdoor concerts in the park also. as a matter of fact, we had 2 different parks we would go to. we'd bring our blankets, lawn chairs, and food. it was so much fun. ah, the good old days. one of the parks now does the shakespeare plays during the summer. they're nice too. i'm glad you have that to look forward to throughout the summer.
HI everyone Thanks to all for sharing your "park stories". Our little park is very special...it's the center of our town and there's always something happening at or near the park. It is withing walking distance...just 2 short blocks from my home. Whenever there is a large gathering...people park all around our neighborhood and I just walk :)
Alcohol is allowed only during the concerts...once the music ends...the alcohol must go too. It's a fun place to get together with your neighbors. We have two large car shows here every year and they shut down traffic on the main street so the classic cars can cruise up and down the main street...they are 3 day events and the old cars are all over downtown and on display in the park...I have some great pictures and will post some this week. Lin in Santa Cruz has a beautiful classic red Cadillac convertible and I'm trying to talk her into bringing it here for one of the shows either on Labor day weekend or next Memorial Day. And then we also have the Paso Robles Wine Festival in the park every year...I am blessed to live here...even in the hot summer :) My town is also host to the California Mid State fair which begins the end of July...they have free bus transportation and the bus picks up at the end of my street. I'll have to check on line and see what the entertainment line-up is for this year...always great free concerts....and you can hear the music from my porch. Goodnight to all and thanks again for your comments and taking the time to stop by to say hello... Hugs from Willy
my daughter is a counselor/therapist for a private school, and yesterday they had to pick one of the girls up from her home and bring back to school. they drove thru paso robles, and she knows i blog with someone there. she called me and said the main road, union road, was being paved, and they only had one lane open for cars to take turns. she said it took them soooooo long. i laughed and said i'd let you know she was passing thru your town. it's about a 4-5 hour drive each way, but she said it was a nice trip.
Hi Sylvia What a small world we live in...so your daughter was in Paso Robles! I would have loved to meet her but I understand that she was working. Union Road is one of many main roads in the eastern part of the city...I live on the west side and rarely travel on that road...although there are lots of wonderful wineries in that part of town....Tobin James, Meridian, Martin & Weyrich, Robert Hall and Eberle to name a few :)
Ellen Yes, I guess you could say that I am in the right place at the right time...very content with my life as it is...for now anyway.
the right place at the right time is the best place to be in. The Bible tells us whatever stage of our life we're in at that point, to be content. that means even when we're experiencing hard times, we're not to fret, but to be at peace in God for that moment. it doesn't mean we have to love when we're experiencing troubles, but to be peaceful and know that this too shall pass.
i saw your comments on enid's blog. you are very creative in your own right. i love hearing about your family. you have one of the most loving families i've come across. your blog represents you and who you are, and that's what makes it unique. when you share your family, your travels, your home, your flowers, the concerts in the park, etc., it gives us insight into who willemina is--a beautiful, loving, caring, sharing, open person.
i'm still going out to california soon. i'm not sure when because i'm working with the summer camp and still have to register for my fall classes, but i do know that i'm going. will keep you posted.
Hi Nina! I'm so glad you stopped by my blog to say hello...I did go to your blog and left a comment and also wanted to send you an e-mail but found no e-mail address there. Just want to let you know that I'm thinking about you and hope that life is good for you and yours. God Bless and hugs from Willy

What a beautiful park and what a great idea to have music there. Is the park within walking distance for you?

Hallo Willy,
Leave it to you to find an outdoor concert where one can have wine! LOL
Your motto must be: TGIF!!!
You are a fun lady,

Hi Willy
Great photos!
I miss the concerts in the park by the river in Annapolis. The Navy Band and other bands would play in one of the parks throughout the summer.
Great relaxing experiences.

Your park sure is pretty. Hope all is well with you today. Watching an Oprah rerun 'my biggest mistake'
Have a great Tuesday nite,
